Malakoff run 2008 till 2011

It has been my favourite route since 2009 , some how this year the hills seems to be getting easier. I guess is because i added trail running in my training.
2008 : A hilly road starting from kiara park. I can't recall much except Tony was pacing me a the last 1 km
2009 : First year Malakoff run starts from Bukit Kiara Equestrian which is  PCC tuesday night ride route. This is where Debbie and I lost our handphone during a car break in.
2010 : Same route but couldn't maintain my pace at the end of the race as i started too fast
2011 : Thought of doing a relax run but ended up almost 3 minutes improvement from last year time.

Toughest hilly road race
No 1 : KRI 12 KM bkt kinding resort
No 2 : UM  Run
No 3 : Malakoff  12 km route from 2009 - 2011
No 4 : Newton 12 km run

TMBT , my first ultramarathon

Never thought I will attempt an ultramarathon. If 25 km distance were there when I registered, I would have signed up for that first. So this means I accidentally became an ultramarathoner. :P
For me TMBT 50 km feels like 70 km on the road, and I would tell you it is tougher than doing an ironman.  The last hour of the run, I just can’t wait to sit down. It is as if you ask me to stand for 7 hours a day. I miss the chair. I do wish my run turn into MTB during the last hour. At least I can still sit down when I cycle .
Overall the experience was great. It is well organize , ample of water at the check point, good support and a very clean village, weather is forgiving that day , no hot sun or heavy rain.
My Signature Photo with Paul Lee
My favourite part:
The jungle at CP3 and CP3a, this is where I feel alive. I love to run along single track trail with a slight technical difficult downhill that will keep me awake .
My most boring part
From CP4 till CP5.Too repetitive with the many slopes that look a like.
Wish List next year
More jungle trail

Most exciting moment
Of course to cross the finishing line but other than that i'm extremely happy to meet a  friend after CP3a. Muahhahahah.. Thanks Ben Swee for your company until CP4 ++ . I hope he did not said it wasn't me.. That will be quite scary as i know i hallucinating around CP4. I saw legs which turn out to be logs and i saw a guy which i start talking to him in cantonese as i thought it is Terence Phoon . Wah..Luckily i did not attempt 100km . I think i will start hugging the trees thinking it is Raymond Ng aka tomato

Total time taken: 8 hours 39 minutes and 44 second
Starting line to CP1 : 1:10:06
CP1 to CP2 : 1:39:19
CP2 to CP3 : 1:04:33
CP3 to CP4: 3:09:00
CP4 to CP5 :1:39:44

I'm now officially an ultramarathoner . Ah MA ngoh tak joh La...!!!

Gunung Rajah Day Trip aka trail run training 27/11/2011

Last week was a great weekend where my hiking buddy and I decided to do something out of ordinary. We try to do a trail run at gunung rajah. Usually Gunung rajah requires 3d 2n or 2d 1n to hike. The last time I went to gunung rajah was 5 years ago.  The reason why we choose gunung rajah for trail run is the ample of water station along the trail. The last water point water feels like water taken out from the fridge. Cold and refreshing but the color looks like Chinese tea. The starting point is at chamang waterfall which is 8km from Bentong town. The height 1685 m / 5526 ft and the elevation I leave it  Yip Weng Tak to tell you. Is a also famous for a lightning incident.
I wonder where will be by next trail run. Liang East and West ? Gunung Batu Putih ? Anyone ?

The starting point is chamang waterfall which is 8km from bentong town
The trail begins here. We start at 7.37 a.m

Turn Left when you reach the open area. The time now is 7.43 a.m
 Reach here around 7.46 a.m
 Follow the paip
You will reach orang asli village after 21 minutes of brisk walk (Michelle's pace)
A big open area and the trail is going to start soon. The time now is 8.23 a.m

Going In
Trail is runnable with slight incline
At 9.19 a.m . This is the river you must cross

Crossing this river is not easy
At 9.57 you will reach another river for refill .
From here the estimation walking pace to kem lata hijau is an hour
This is Kem pematang bongsai. Take a break and enjoy the view here
From Pematang Bongsai, the road to the peak is going to be a lot of climbs
This is the time where i reach the peak
First guy that reach the peak in 4 hours
The Group leader of the day Wong CC aka ah Ming
An hour break at gunung Rajah peak
 This is KKB dam
And this is bentong town
The group that made it to the peak

Total time taken 10 hours
Total walking /running time 9 hours
